Bio for Kalani Kirk Hausman

Kirk is currently employed as the Assistant Commandant for Strategic Communications, Information Technology and Public Relations at Texas A&M University; as an Adjunct Professor in InfoSec for the University of Maryland (UMUC campus); and as an Author for Waterside Productions.

Kirk’s professional experience has focused on enterprise architecture and IT governance, project management, green IT practices, security and business continuity, information assurance and regulatory compliance with a background including digital forensics, WMD/wide-area disaster response planning, pandemic response planning, and technology audit practices in higher-education, corporate and healthcare venues. His technology experience includes application design, data resource management, network architecture, server and storage virtualization, strategic technology modernization, enterprise centralization and consolidation, research computing, and large network BCP/DR planning.

With a Master’s degree in Information Technology (Information Assurance focus), Kirk has served as a senior research scientist in the fields of cyber terrorism, cybercrime, and cyber security and regularly lectures on uses of technology in education, solutions for persons with disabling conditions, network security, and strategic architectural planning to improve enterprise efficiencies. Kirk has developed information security, cyber terrorism, cyber crime and digital forensics courses. He currently teaches at the University of Maryland (UMUC) in the CMIT program.

Kirk has served as a subject matter expert before both Houses of the Texas State Legislature and has numerous books currently in print, together with professional publications, articles and white-papers addressing system interoperation, enterprise architecture, cyber terrorism, IT governance, and alternative energy solutions.

Kirk’s professional certifications include the CISSP, CGEIT, CRISC, CISA, CISM, and CCP together with a wide assortment of technology, project management, and regulatory-specific designations.
